I am thrilled to share my hairstyling work for this Central Park bridal shoot featured over on Ruffled! Texture is one of the most important design elements I consider during a bridal consultation. The current trend of more relaxed, lived-in hair isn’t going anywhere any time soon, and as a hairstylist I couldn’t be happier.  These dreamy do’s please the eye by creating movement and interesting interplay of light and shadow.

Texture is important when considering your bridal hairstyle regardless of your hair’s color, length, or natural texture, but I find it is especially important for brunettes; if you’ll notice, most of the popular wedding hairstyles found on Pinterest are featured on blondes or brunettes with highlights or other dimensional color.

Dark hair absorbs a lot of light, making details indistinguishable in photos without the addition of texture to create variation. Check out these examples of some of my real brides below and notice how despite having ultra dark hair, their hairstyle still pops due to the addition of texture magic!

For this shoot, we layered multiple textures to capture the beauty and romance of the scene with lace, embroidery, ruffles, frills, and sharply contrasting bright and soft colors. This dreamy Central Park bridal shoot is the work of the very talented Jainé Kershner of Brklyn View Photography, featuring makeup by my good friend/frequent collaborator/and client Amanda Thesen and hair by Eden Di Bianco for Book Your Look.
